Over the past month, Wifejak has been all the rage on Twitter. Stereotypical one-liners from wives around the world are being celebrated through this mutated Wojak meme, and honestly, I’m not mad about it. It’s the first wholesome meme I’ve seen in a while. As a man with a wife, many of these hit extra hard. My favorites are the simple ones like “I’m hungry” or “I’m cold,” but the best ones have more nuance, like “I put the Amazon boxes in the garage for you.” If you know, you know.

For me, though, it’s bittersweet. I’m dealing with life on the road right now, just coming off a short break at home with my wife and kids. Being away from them gets harder every week. This new gig has been tough, and so far, it hasn’t yielded the return I’d hoped for or expected.

Is it too much to want to give my Wifejak and kids the world? I don’t think so. But at a certain point, you have to look yourself in the mirror and ask if being away this much is really worth it.
